What is digital marketing?

Traditional Marketing refers to marketing done through traditional devices. Traditionally, this is what was going on, we have seen the same, so we call it Traditional Marketing. Digital Marketing done through digit devices.

Different marketing techniques is:

  • ATL
  • BTL
  • TTL

ATL

ATL stands for ‘Above the line’. It includes all those techniques that we apply to Mass Media. Mass Media refers to a large audience that is difficult to counted. The message sent to the Masses or the General Public count towards ATL.

BTL

BTL stands for ‘Below the line’. It is a kind of marketing in which you send messages to a specific group. Some people call it Event Marketing. Call to Homes and calls on your personal Mobile phone is also BTL Marketing.

For example If you ever to a shopping plaza come to you to test their products i.e. tea, coffee etc.

TTL

TTL means ‘Through The Line’. It’ formed by combining ATL and BTL. As traditional marketing was coming through, and people haven’t learned new things, So it was difficult for them to classify Digital marketing as ATL, BTL or both. Digital is the future because all the things in ATL and BTL are coming to it.

4 Main Sources of digital marketing

  1. Search
  2. Social
  3. Direct
  4. Referral

It has four main sources. The major of them are ‘Search’ and ‘Social’.

Search Media

In Search Media we talk about search engines like Google, Bing, and others in it.

Social Media

Social Media which includes all social Media channels Like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and many others channels yet unknown to us.

Direct Marketing

Then the third channel is ‘Direct Marketing’. In which there is a direct relationship between you and your customer.

If you want to directly approach your Customers you must have their numbers or emails. You can use their number for WhatsApp and SMS. Now, if a customer wants to contact you, they may visit your ‘.com’ website. We call it ‘Direct Marketing’ because of a Direct Relationship. It also included  Email & SMS marketing.

Referral Marketing

The fourth source which is ‘Referral Marketing’. It is refers to the “Word of Mouth Marketing” in Traditional Marketing. Mean if you like something , you will refer it to others, they will refer it further.

Digital Marketing strategy and its Importance

If you want to do Digital Marketing completely, you need to work on at least six things. If you are not doing it completely, you can’t say it Digital Marketing because it is not a single skill and can’t work alone.

In Digital Marketing, you must reach your Customers by all means and angles. Wherever your customer is, you need to take your business there. Digital Marketing includes content, website, social media, ads email marketing and many other things.

If you want to use digital marketing and want to gain maximum benefit from it, then you need to work on at least these six things.

Develop your Website Content :

First, you must develop ‘Content’ for your website. Content is essential, and you can’t do marketing without it.

Website is Your Owned Media:

Owned media is necessary to control the content on your owned website. It is like a virtual office.

SEO:

If you have written content that is not of good quality, people won’t be able to find it on Google.

Social Media Marketing:

It differs because you need to take your content to the people. As people logging in and spending time on social media, chances are they will not be visiting your website regularly.

In Traditional Media i.e., TV and Newspapers ads are costly,  but you can run on Digital Media for as low as a hundred rupees.

Direct Marketing:

Finally is the concept of ‘Direct Marketing’ in which you need to take the email or phone number of your customer through which you can activate Email or WhatsApp/SMS Marketing.

If you are not working on these six things, you are not adopting Digital Marketing ultimately.
